10 Best Family Resorts in Florida

Fun Family Friendly Resorts in Florida

Florida Travel Blog has written about many resorts in Florida. Many are suitable for the whole family but many do not offer specific amenities for children and teens. The best family resorts in Florida we have chosen are those that cater to the younger members of the family as well as adults.

As we all know, kids want and need activities designed for them. They are happier and the family as a unit can do things together. A vacation at one of the best family-friendly resorts in Florida that keeps the kids busy and happy is a great vacation!

Finding resorts in Florida is easy. Finding kid friendly resorts in Florida takes experience – we have been doing it for 40 years.

Orlando Excluded

We have chosen not to include any family resorts in the Orlando/Disney area. There are numerous resorts for families in this area. Most notable are the multiple Disney World Resorts and Universal’s resort.

Some of the best family friendly resorts in Florida surround what we call the “Disney Bubble” – a 3 mile radius around the parks. Many, if not most, feature family oriented vacation stays that are very similar and competitive.

If you are considering an Orlando vacation trip, check out our Magical Florida Vacation and related Orlando articles.

Our Commitment to Safe Family Resorts in Florida

Florida Travel Blog is committed to refer your family only to safe locations. Florida is a very safe state. However, like most states, there are less safe areas in Florida than others.

The family resorts in Florida we have chosen are based on our experience as residents of Florida and places we have enjoyed over the years.

All of the best family resorts in Florida we have chosen are in statically safe areas of Florida.

New Addition to the Best Family Resorts in Florida for 2024

The World Equestrian Center

Ocala, Florida

best resorts for families in Florida - The World Equestrian Center
Despite the cloudy day, this picture depicts the size of the massive hotel and the main jumping arena attached.

We were literally totally amazed at a recent stay at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala and their commitment to families. Not only do they have the only 5-star hotel in the region, but they include family recreation, shopping and entertainment high on their list of amenities. This is one of our fun Florida Family resorts.

Why should the WEC be on our list of the best family resorts in Florida? Consider these reasons:

  • Since our visit was in December, they had one of the largest Christmas displays we have ever seen. Much of it was directed at kids, but adults love it.
  • They have daily timed horse jumping in their massive arena. Many of the riders are children.
  • They have multiple arenas located in the 300+ acres where they train horses and kids to ride and jump.
  • The horses, stalls and facilities are open for all ages to see and develop an understanding of equestrian fun.
  • The hotel, called The Equestrian, has one of the largest and most unique toy stores we have ever encountered – and certainly unique for 5-star hotels.
  • Multiple food venues scattered around the complex cater to family dining.
  • They also have fine dining at their Stirrups restaurant.

The entire complex was designed to be a Florida family resort. We highly recommend a stay at the Equestrian for your family.
