For years this supposedly Irish phenomenon has captivated young and old alike. Parades, green beer, kilts, and lots of green invade the streets of many Florida towns. Who has the best St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Florida? That age-old question can only be answered after years of investigation. We have a few candidates.
Dunedin, Florida
It would seem appropriate that a village named after a Scottish town would have St. Patrick’s Day Celebration unmatched by any other town it’s size. And who is the unofficial host of the green day-long party? None other than a bar named Flanagan’s!
This event starts at 11 AM in the morning on St. Patrick’s Day and continues for 12 hours until 11 PM to see who is left standing. There are parades, plenty of music and vendors lining the closed downtown streets. This is has been one of the best St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Florida for many years.
Dunedin is located adjacent to Clearwater, Florida. This city is known as the gateway to Honeymoon Island and home to the spring training stadium for the Toronto Blue Jays.
Key West, Florida
It seems Key West has a daily parade. If you do your people watching on Duval Street, you could make the argument that an eclectic group of people from all walks of life and a dozen different countries make up a daily parade. But on Saturday, March 18th, The 45th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Bar Stroll will fill the city’s main thoroughfare.

The Stroll starts at the Southernmost Café at the farthest southern point of Duval Street and proceeds north to see who makes it to 0 Duval Street still standing. The big attraction is the competition to see has the most unusual St. Patrick’s Day clothing or lack thereof.
Key West has become one of the most popular international destinations in the country. The party atmosphere, loads of history, and diversity acceptance draw people from around the world.
Oviedo, Florida

Where is Oviedo, Florida? The city of a little over 30,000 people is northeast of Orlando about 30 minutes. This town must get its incentive from Disney World. They have a two-day St. Patrick’s Day event that rivals the massive St. Patrick’s celebration at Disney Springs.
The Oviedo St. Patrick’s Day Festival starts on the 17th at 5 PM and continues on the 18th at 4 PM. Entertainment includes Irish dancing and some of the best Irish music both days. Plenty of food and Guinness will be available from stands at Central Lake Park.
If you head to this annual event, don’t forget to take a drive around this quaint, but growing city off route 417 near Lake Jessup. There is a lot to see for a small town and it is easy to find from Orlando, Tampa or Jacksonville. For a small town, they have one of the best St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Florida.
The Villages, Florida
When there is an opportunity to have a party, this sprawling community never misses a beat. In fact, some places have two-day events. How about this community of 135,000 people have St. Patrick’s Day celebrations that start on March 11th and end with a huge parade on March 17th at 3 PM. In between, there are a dozen or two bars and country clubs having their own parties.
On St. Patrick’s Day at the Spanish Springs public square, you will find all-day entertainment, food vendors, festival tents and dancing in the courtyard. All of this takes place a week earlier at Lake Sumter Landing, another public square in the Villages.
The Villages is known as the fastest-growing community in the country. The reason for the popularity is the attractive affordable retirement housing. Built throughout three different counties, immaculately manicured homes featuring recreation nearby in the golf cart-centric community is attractive to retirees from every state in the union.

Tampa , Florida
This big city takes St. Patrick’s Day seriously. On March 11th, the Ybor City Parade takes over the neighborhood and everyone in Tampa shows up. The 7 PM parade actually starts in the afternoon as the parade goers start their own bar crawl to prep for the parade.
Then to top any other celebrations, the City of Tampa has the River O’Green Fest starting at 11 AM on March 18th. The Hillsborough River is dyed green to celebrate. Vendors, musicians, and fun along the Riverwalk highlight the daylong event.
Downtown Tampa has become an entertainment and destination for central Florida. The Tampa Bay Lightning make their home at Amalie Arena downtown along with the Florida Aquarium, the best in Florida. Tampa is easily accessible off an active freeway system of I-275 and I-4.
Taverns and Pubs All Over Florida
It’s doubtful there is an Irish Pub in Florida that isn’t full of green-clad partygoers. From McGuires Pub in Pensacola to Irish Kevin’s in Key West and the 832 miles in between, there will be celebrations.
