Notes around Clearwater Beach and Sand Key there is not much you can say about beaches that are beautiful – but vacant! More businesses shut down. Yesterday, while walking on the beach looking down Gulfview Blvd., there were only three people as far as you could see to the north! We just wonder how long this will go and how many businesses can stand the economic devastation?

Who Gets the Covid-19 Virus? The fact is, EVERYONE can get it, but very, very few do. There are about 330 million people in the US and we have about 400,000 cases of Covid-19 – if your math is as bad as mine, that’s about 1.2 people in every 3.3 million people!  If I were to guess, 329,500,000 of us will never be symptomatically infected.

We will try to narrow down some of the facts about who these infected people are AND the ones who get seriously ill or die.

  • Factually., anyone can get the disease, but in Florida there are VERY few cases of COVID-19 in children under 15 years old (only 87 cases out of 14.700).
  • The age group 45-85 has 8.7 thousand infections of the 13,600.
  • According to statistics, people who live in cramped quarters, don’t have access to water, are poor, those already diseased, those with poor immune systems tend to get the COVID-19 easier than other people.
  • If you look at geography, it is clear there are more cases centered around high travel areas such as cruise ports (Miami-Ft. Lauderdale), New York, Los Angeles, New Orleans, etc.
  • According to this site (Worldometers), 14.8% of the people over 80 years old die from the disease.
  • Far more males die overall, than females.
  • People with pre-existing conditions die at a much higher rate than those with no pre-existing conditions which is less than .9 percent those healthy individuals. Cardiovascular diseased patients have almost a 15% mortality rate.

On the bright side of this pandemic is the fact that if you follow these guidelines, very few people will be harmed by the coronavirus.
Is this a blip? Or are we reaching a peak? Here is a the latest daily chart of infections in Florida through April 7th. I don’t know about you, but this looks promising to us –
