The ferry to Key West we think, is one of the cool things to do in Florida. There are many ways to get to the Florida Keys – this is one of the best.

You travel in style with seats in the open air, inside an air-conditioned cabin or sitting at one of two bars on board.

For most Florida cities, the only ferry from your city to Key West is Ft. Myers Beach and Marco Island.

The Key West Express leaves almost daily from their docks at Ft. Myers Beach each morning around 8 am and arrives in Key West in time to have some Key West pink shrimp at Sloppy Joe’s for lunch.

About the Ferry to Key West

The Key West Express does serve refreshments, snacks and sandwiches, but we would suggest you can bring one of your favorite sandwiches along. In Key West, the ship docks at Key West Bight Marina which is about four blocks from Duval Street. Of course, you can stop on the way at the Conch Republic Seafood Company for a grouper sandwich on the way to your hotel.

When it is sadly time to go home, the Key West Express leaves the island about 5 PM each evening. You get to see a beautiful Florida sunset on the way back to Ft. Myers Beach.

You can get to the docks in time to have a late dinner at Matanza’s on the island. The ferry to Key West is a must-do.

Since we generally go to Fort Myers Beach the day before we leave on the Key West Express, we find local things to do near Fort Myers Beach.

Yes, but your time in Key West would only be about 5 hours. The boat arrives at about 12:30 PM and leaves to return at about 5:30 PM.

The Key West Express has a bar on board. Alcohol can be purchased on the trip to Key West.

How much is the parking for the Express to Key West?

The parking fee is $20 per day at the marina where the boat departs.

Is there a ferry from Tampa to Key West?

No, there is not a ferry from Tampa to Key West. The closest ferry is about 2.5 hours south at Fort Myers Beach (Key West Express).

Is there a ferry from Miami to Key West?

No, there is no ferry from Miami to Key West. You would have to go to Marco Island, about 3 hours away.

Is there a ferry from Naples to Key West?

No, there is not a ferry from Naples to Key West, but just 30 minutes from Naples you can catch the Key West ferry from Marco Island.
