Best Sunset Cruises in Clearwater Beach
I’m a sucker for Clearwater Beach sunsets—the Gulf turns orange-pink and the whole sky glows. If you’re visiting (or you live here and just need a mini-vacation), a sunset cruise is the easiest way to level it up.
Below are my favorite options by vibe and budget, with simple tips so you book the right boat the first time.
Quick pick: Want dinner and views? Go StarLite Majesty or Calypso Queen. Prefer a breezy sail with a toast? Kai Lani or The Tropics. Bringing kids? Captain Memo’s Pirate Cruise or Little Toot. Booking, Parking and Prices Below
In this article:
Where Sunset Cruises Depart
Most Clearwater Beach cruises leave from Clearwater Beach Marina, 25 Causeway Blvd. You’ll see slips for StarLite, Kai Lani, The Tropics, Sea Screamer, and more right along the causeway. Arrive early for parking and boarding.
AS of October 5, 2025, there is construction at the Clearwater Marina, so finding your departing cruise will be at the east end of th marina.
PARKING
While there is parking at the marina, it can fill up quickly. Lots next to the beach at the north and south end are options.
Best Sunset Cruises in Clearwater Beach (by vibe)
Romantic dinner & special occasions
StarLite Majesty Dining Yacht – A classic dinner-dance cruise with outside decks for photos; typically ~2.5–3 hours. Great for anniversaries or a dressed-up night out. Booking Details
Calypso Queen – Casual, tropical-themed evening cruise with an optional island-style buffet and complimentary beer/wine/rum punch when you choose the buffet ticket. Fun, colorful, and budget-friendly. Booking Details
Chill sail with a toast
Kai Lani Catamaran – A 50-ft sailing catamaran with an easy two-hour sunset sail; super photogenic, often slipping out through Clearwater Pass to the Gulf (weather permitting). Booking Info
The Tropics Sunset Celebration – Open-air double-decker boat; sunset celebration cruise includes a complimentary champagne toast when the sun dips. Booking Dinner Cruise
Family favorites
Captain Memo’s Pirate Cruise is perfect for the kids! Captain Memo’s Pirate Cruise – Kid-approved pirate ship vibes with games and music; the popular early-evening sailing often catches sunset in season. (Call for same-day reservations.) Book Captain Memo
Little Toot Dolphin Adventure (Sunset Tour) – Tugboat-style cruiser with seasonal sunset departures; smaller boat = closer to the water and great dolphin action. Little Toot Booking
Dolphin-forward & laid-back from nearby Dunedin
ParrotDise Express (Sunset Dolphin Tour) – A 2.5-hour cruise with mellow music and views of Clearwater Beach, Caladesi Island, and Honeymoon Island—often a gorgeous, less-crowded sunset corner. Paradise Booking Info
Note on Sea Screamer: It’s a beloved speedboat dolphin ride with guaranteed sightings; some departures line up with sunset, but it’s more “thrill + dolphins” than a slow sunset sail. If you want a relaxed, golden-hour vibe, pick one of the options above.

When to go (Our Recommendations)
Pick your day: Aim for the second-to-last or last hour before sunset—that’s the prettiest light on the Gulf.
Check wind & storms: Summer afternoons can pop storms; fall/winter often has the clearest sunsets.
Arrive early: Parking near the marina gets tight; build in 45–60 minutes for beach traffic and boarding. (Operators recommend early arrival, especially in peak season.)
Dress for the breeze: It’s always cooler on the water—bring a light layer.
Photographers: Secure a spot on the west-facing rail as you exit Clearwater Pass; wide lenses are your friend.
What to Bring
Sunglasses, hat, light layer
Phone/camera with a wrist strap (it gets breezy)
Cash/card for drinks and crew gratuity
Motion tabs if you’re sensitive (the Gulf can get rolly)
FAQs About Clearwater Beach Boat Tours
How much do sunset cruises cost in Clearwater Beach?
Expect most public sunset cruises to range roughly from budget catamarans to mid-range (often under $50–$80 per adult), with dinner yachts higher. Check current rates and promos directly when booking.
Are kids welcome?
Yes—Captain Memo’s Pirate Cruise and Little Toot are fan favorites for families, and many boats are stroller-friendly. Always confirm age policies when you reserve.
Will I see dolphins?
Dolphins are common here and some operators even guarantee sightings on dedicated dolphin trips; on sunset sails it’s a happy bonus.
Do cruises run if it rains?
Light rain usually isn’t a deal-breaker, but lightning/wind can pause operations. Operators make weather calls the day of and will rebook or refund per policy.
What’s the dress code on dinner yachts?
Resort-casual works great; think “nice dinner on vacation.” Closed-toe is optional, but non-slip shoes are wise on decks.
