Tips For Making Your Own Travel Itinerary
Finding reliable sources for planning a trip in Florida is not always easy. One key issue is unreliable sources that rely on advertiser data rather than actual people-centric advice.
As residents of Florida for over 40 years, we have extensive knowledge from hundreds of trips around the state. In addition, we do not allow advertisers to influence our recommendations.
Many online websites can help you plan your Florida trip, including Florida Travel Blog. You can use the Florida Itinerary Planner to list all the interesting places to go and things to see you find during the research stage of trip planning.
Here are some ideas on how to use online resources to plan your Florida vacation or that weekend road trip:
- Florida Travel Blog – Use FTB to find places to go in Florida. You can use the search function or browse through the hundreds of posts on Florida attractions, fun destinations and things to do when you get there.
- Wikipedia
– Many travelers use this free tool for discovering information about a specific town, city or destination. You can find out the population, history, crime rate, and much more. - TripAdvisor—We urge caution when using TripAdvisor because it is heavily influenced by advertisers. It is good for looking at things to do, but often, its listings only include the attractions, museums, and activities that advertise with it or pay a percentage to it.
- Booking. com – One of the best places to find many hotels in a specific location. Prices and amenities are listed for each.
- Trivago – We highly recommend you check any hotel price with Trivago. You may find lower prices from travel sites that buy blocks of rooms at popular destinations at a very low price. Many times you can find a bargain price that even the destination hotel cannot offer.
- Get Your Guide – Most of the major cities in Florida are covered by Get Your Guide. They offer comprehensive listings of tours, attractions and fun things to do. Again, as with all travel bookers, advertisers come first, yet a lot of information can be found here.
- Travel Insurance – Check out Visitors Coverage for travel insurance quotes. We recommend all extended trips with advance bookings have some form of travel insurance for cancellations, medical emergencies and unforeseen weather events. Read our post on travel insurance costs and benefits.
The internet is a great place to discover new places and explore new adventures. Keep in mind that the net can also be a place for scammers and fraudsters who want your money. Know who you are dealing with BEFORE sending money to anyone!
