Key Largo Tiki Bars

Gilbert’s Tiki Bar

Gilbert resort key largo
On its own little island, Gilbert’s has a great reputation as the first tiki bar as you enter Key Largo.

Description: Gilbert’s is the party-forward choice: the Keys’ largest tiki bar, tropical cocktails, fresh seafood, sand-underfoot atmosphere, and frequent live music. Great for travelers who want a true resort-style tiki scene.

Mile marker: Approx. MM 107.9 bayside

Our experience: This is the first tiki bar you see as you enter the island from the mainland. We rarely stop at Gilbert’s. By the time we get this close to Key Largo, we choose to go further into the island to our favorite spots. Gilbert’s requires an exit and entrance off the Overseas Highway that is at least inconvenient and a deterrent for us.

Jimmy Johnson’s Big Chill

Jimmy Johnson's Big Chill bayside
As you walk into the massive tiki structure at Jimmy Johnson’s big Chill, the panoramic view of the Bay strikes you.

Description: A big, energetic bayside entertainment complex with a waterfront tiki bar, sunset views, happy hour, live music, poolside options, and watersports energy. Best for travelers who want a louder scene.

Mile marker: MM 104 bayside

Our experience: We love the views here from one of the largest tiki structures in Key Largo. The food is good. Service can be spotty as they get busy.

Sundowners Key Largo

Sundowners sign Key Largo
Sundowners is next to Jimmy Johnson’s and Caribbean Club, it gets less attention from tourists, but the locals love it.

Description: Sundowners is better known as a longtime bayside sunset restaurant, but its tropical patio, dock, drinks, and live-music atmosphere make it a strong tiki-style stop for a sunset-first crowd.
Mile marker: Approx. MM 103.9 bayside
Our experience: This tiki-bar-style restaurant and bar is next door to the famous Caribbean Club, the best dive bar in Key Largo! Good views and food. Also, just steps from Jimmy Johnson’s Big Chill (below).

Snooks Key Largo - one of the best tiki bars in Key Largo
Looking back at Snook’s from their dock on the Bay.

Snook’s Bayside Restaurant & Grand Tiki Bar

Description: Snook’s pairs an open-air grand tiki bar with unobstructed bay views, nightly live music, tropical drinks, patio seating, and beach-lounge options. It is one of the strongest sunset-and-cocktails picks in Key Largo.

Mile marker: MM 99.5 bayside

Our experience: Snook’s is one of the more upscale tiki bars in Key Largo. The food and views are very good. If you are looking for a more rustic experience, Snook’s is not the place.

Skipper’s Dockside

Skippers dockside entrance
As you enter Skippers you see the massive size of the bar under the tiki.

Description: Skipper’s Dockside is a waterfront favorite at MM 100 with old-Florida character, marina energy, and a laid-back bar scene. It feels more dockside-casual than themed tiki, but it belongs on this roundup.

Mile marker: MM 100 oceanside

Our experience: One of our top choices for good food. The views are limited to the canal leading to the Atlantic. Nearby is the African Queen tour boat. Easy to get to from the main highway with plenty of parking.

Sand Bar at Playa Largo

Sand Bar tiki Playa Largo
Upscale tiki-style bar at the Playa Largo Resort.

Description: Sand Bar is a chic, barefoot-on-the-beach cocktail stop with light bites, waterfront seating, live entertainment, and sunset views. It is smaller and sleeker than old-school tiki spots, but still very Key Largo.

Mile marker: Approx. MM 97.5 bayside

Our experience: Another upscale version of a tiki bar-style experience with excellent views and that sand in your toe’s feel. It is in Playa Largo Resort and can get very busy in season, with prices to match. You won’t find much better views of the bay.

Snappers Oceanfront Bar & Restaurant

Snapper Bar and Restaurant Key Largo
Looking back at Snappers from their dock Oceanside.

Description: A tiki bar on steroids! There is the main building tiki, and then a tiki bar lifted 20 feet in the air, open on weekends and for busy events, that overlooks the water. Waterfront docks and boat traffic add to the view.

Mile Marker – Turnoff at MM 94.5

Our Experience – Literally destroyed by hurricanes, Snappers has built back bigger and better than ever. You can have cocktails next to the water or join their many regulars at the bar. We also enjoy walking around the grounds and docks. Food is excellent as are the views. One of our top three tiki bars in Key Largo.

In addition to the Best Key Largo tiki bars we have listed here, there are many others in resorts and hotels. Many are upscale, expensive and difficult to enter.
