The closest beach to The Villages is New Smyrna Beach. While this is a beautiful beach near The Villages, and you have no plans to go in the water, this is a great place to visit. 

However, for unknown reasons, New Smyrna Beach has been the victim of multiple shark bites in the last couple of years.

Distance to New Smyrna from the Villages – this is probably the easiest beach to get to from The Villages – it is about a 90-minute drive straight east on State Road 44, which everyone in The Villages should be familiar with.

Distance from The Villages to Clearwater Beach – 108 miles – Drive Time 2-2.5 hours – Mainly freeway and major roads. I-75 to State Route 60 straight west to the beach.
