As residents of Florida, we have compiled our list based on subjective matters as well as statistical data.

The list of places we have recommended as the best cities in Florida for young professionals are for 2024. Why the changes? Perhaps as demographics, city crime stats and economic conditions change, opportunities may be better or worse. Florida Travel Blog will keep our recommendations updated.

Fort Myers is our newest addition to the best cities in Florida for young professionals. The reason is the several billion-dollar devastation and destruction caused by Hurricane Ian in September of 2022.

  • Job Market and Economy: The hurricane described above was a disaster for Ft. Myers. Today, FT. Myers and Ft. Myers Beach are rebounding at unprecedented levels. This growth has brought an active job market and opportunities for young professionals in many sectors. There is a need for professionals in almost every profession you can imagine, with the building trades topping the list.
  • Location: Ft. Myers is nestled along the Gulf coast in the midst of some of the most famous islands in Florida. Sanibel, Captiva and Ft. Myers Beach are top destinations for winter residents and visitors. Growth will be sustained for many years as the communities along the Gulf are built back bigger and better.
  • Population of Ft. Myers: 92,245 Florida’s 32nd largest city.
  • Culture and History: Ft. Myers’ first visitor was in 1513 when Ponce DeLeon visited the area. He found that Native Americans had inhabited the region for a thousand years. The rich cultural scene includes the J.N. Darling Reserve that takes up over half the island of Sanibel. The Henry Ford and Thomas Edison winter estates are treasures in Ft. Myers.
